Last year’s National Art & Design Saturday Club (2018/19) saw us begin with a focus on the Circus 250 exhibition- screen printing posters and turning circus life drawings into 3D wire sculptures. We then had the pleasure of having a glass artist in who showed the group how to design and cut pieces and we made these fused glass tiles based on our Medieval Medicine exhibition, showcasing them in our Community Gallery alongside a selection of coil clay pots inspired by (witches) Bellarmine bottles. We visited Central Saint Martins for a small exhibition and worked with a range of local professional artists throughout the programme. The final term was Carnival-based and the group created large, vibrant windsocks to fly in the parade, we then finished the year with the Summer Show @ Somerset House, London!
The sessions are on X 6 Saturdays during term-time across Great Yarmouth venues, with regular trips to visit galleries and museums in London and across Norfolk. All sessions are free to attend. Plus, young people taking part can work towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold Arts Award, which is nationally recognised arts qualification.
If you know a young person aged 11-16 (high school age) who would like to take part in this creative opportunity and friendly group then please get in touch.
